Support for the Vulnerable: Over 20,000 Individuals Receive Hygiene Kits and Food Vouchers

World Vision Romania has provided hygiene kits and food vouchers to over 20,500 individuals through the Dec2b project, from October 2023 to May 2024. The total investment in supporting both refugees and vulnerable community members has amounted to 2.894.743 RON. The project remains ongoing.

„We have been deeply committed to standing with families going through tough times, offering them support to overcome the challenges unfairly thrust upon them by life,” said Alice Mihăilescu, Technical Advisor at World Vision Romania.

„The project design aimed for each beneficiary family to receive a hygiene kit of 112 RON and a food social voucher worth 225 RON. Families were assessed and prioritized based on vulnerability criteria aligned with UNHCR’s, including single-parent families, families with multiple children, large families, and those with members such as pregnant or breastfeeding women, elderly and individuals with disabilities,” Alice explained.

Beneficiaries reside in or come from cities including Bucharest, Constanța, Galați, Tulcea, Cluj-Napoca, Iași, Suceava, and Vâlcea. The project continues to be implemented actively, with World Vision teams collaborating closely with local authorities in social services for efficient delivery.

An Initiative Bringing Hope

The project represents an initiative „aimed at bringing stability and hope into the lives of those facing hardship,” said Nicolae Georgescu, Field Officer at World Vision Romania.

„Beyond numbers and statistics, the most significant aspect is the satisfaction of knowing you’ve done good, bringing smiles to families facing challenges. The campaign has had an incredibly positive impact by focusing on practical aspects of daily life,” Nicolae added.

The support has resonated deeply with beneficiaries, who appreciate World Vision’s involvement in assisting them.

„I would like to express my profound gratitude to World Vision for the assistance provided through vouchers and hygiene kits, and special thanks for the opportunity given to my child to attend the educational center (Happy Bubble). There, my daughter can study online in a Ukrainian school, learn Romanian, and socialize. I have also found a job and am reassured that my daughter is in good hands while I work full-time,” said Oleksandra.

Oleksandra arrived in Romania with her daughter nearly two years ago. Despite initial challenges, she credits World Vision’s support for making a difference.

„The voucher and hygiene kit were immensely helpful during difficult times, allowing me to buy food for my child and use hygiene products for a month without spending money on them,” Oleksandra emphasized.

The Dec2b project demonstrates the significant impact of well-organized humanitarian assistance. By providing practical and essential support, World Vision brings real and positive changes to those most in need. Consistent support serves as a beacon of hope for vulnerable families in Romania, proving that solidarity and compassion can make a tremendous difference.
